WHY: Rooted in Art, Grown in Belonging
Art is a common language—giving life to what is unseen, unheard, or unspoken. Yet, while in the present world reaching people is easier than ever, too many people still experience art as something distant or inaccessible. Thus, creating space for art is never only about supporting individual creators.
We think investment in nurturing a richer cultural landscape benefits wellbeing together. Interaction with art grows new ways of understanding our human experience. It invites participation in gardening Culture as something living and shared. And in that space human belonging can take root and flourish, regardless of the distance between us.
Art makes a better world—on this thought, KAJO was founded.
HOW: Evergreen Garden, Nurtured Together
We are aware that the world is changing constantly. Cultural organizations must be both grounded and forward-looking. We use our international roots and networks to connect artistic work to broader contexts, through which resources, networks, ideas, and opportunities can be shared.
Operating collectively, we bring different skills and worldviews into the same space. Allowing mature and young, local and international, and established and emerging voices to contribute side by side, regardless of backgrounds.
Guided by Nordic values, we aim to foster ways of working where people can contribute together as whole human beings, not only through professional expertise but also through empathy, curiosity, and mutual respect.
For us, the role of an arts organization is not only to showcase creative work, but to create the conditions in which a more resilient, inclusive, resourceful, and socially sustainable cultural field can thrive over time.
WHAT: Seeds of Culture, For a Better World
We act as both a producer of cultural experiences and a bridge between artists and wider social, institutional, and private networks. Alongside currently producing at least one KAJO exhibition annually, we partner with ongoing projects that connect people and art in continuous, accessible ways.
We envision cultural worlds in living relationship with one another, where contribution and belonging can unfold in the same room. Our first French–Finnish exhibition in Helsinki in 2025 marked an important step in this mission. We were able to connect partners across Northern and Central Europe, bringing together artists, designers, and values-driven sponsors in an international context.
WHO: Kajo Art ry
Kajo Art ry is a Nordic nonprofit art organization based in Helsinki, Finland, founded in the summer of 2025. We are a collective of international artists, creatives, and cultural actors from different backgrounds. Together, we embody the values we stand for. We are together because we believe we can go further collectively than alone—and because we live, see, and build that reality together.
